The China Town of the Victoria City

While the British were busy building up the Victoria City, the Chinese community becomes the 'China Town'. The building up of the Victoria City requires labour, and attracted poor Chinese from the mainland to come to make a living. They continued their own religious practices and settled their own disputes their own way. There were also outbreak of plague which eventually forced the government to intervene into local affairs. The tour will take you to the old district, visit the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Science, look at the local temples and the Bird's Nest and Seafood Street to find out lives of the local Chinese and how they strengthened Hong Kong's position as a trading port in the early 20th century.
